It's that time of year again: Winter Averaging begins 12/01/2020 to 02/28/2021. Using less water during this time will save you money on your sewer bill all year long.
It’s Winter Averaging time again in Highlands at Mayfield Ranch Municipal Utility District (MUD). Some of you may be wondering what that means and how it affects you. The MUD receives wastewater treatment service from the City of Cedar Park. Since there is no meter to measure the amount of wastewater discharged from each home, Winter Averaging is the method used by the City to estimate this amount and determine our monthly wastewater rate for next year. The Winter Average is determined by taking the total amount of potable water used by residents during the months of December, January, and February, and then calculating a monthly average per connection from that amount. Since water usage during these winter months is typically only for inside household use, it’s a good indicator of the amount of residential wastewater flow. Conserving water through the end of February will help lower the Winter Average, which will keep your monthly wastewater rate down for the upcoming year. You can conserve water by not watering lawns, only washing full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine, taking shorter showers, and fixing leaks in faucets and toilets. Security |
MUD's are not normally empowered to provide regular police departments, like cities, such as Round Rock. So the Highland at Mayfield Ranch MUD contracts with the Williamson County Sheriff department to provide regular police patrols. Reports of these patrols will be presented to the District Board each month and posted to the Security Report page.
