Pond Maintenance: In response to recent resident feedback, the pond maintenance provider for Highlands MUD now performs weekly inspections for all wet ponds in the community. During these visits, the provider will assess the equipment, remove litter and debris from the pond, and troubleshoot issues as needed at these stormwater treatment facilities. Please note that if any fountains are observed to be off, they will be addressed during the provider's next scheduled weekly visit and reset when possible.
Residents should also expect the fountains to be off at different time periods throughout the year. There are various reasons why the equipment may be temporarily off. Examples include weather-related events, maintenance repairs, planned maintenance projects, and trash/debris collection near the intake. Following manufacturer recommendations, residents can expect the fountains to be turned off in anticipation of extreme cold weather as a preventative measure against damage to the fountains. Fountains may also be off during drier seasons if a lower pond water level prevents the equipment from functioning as intended. The pond maintenance provider will continue servicing the ponds weekly, even when the fountains are off.
Wastewater Line Cleaning & Televising: In the next few months, the MUD will perform routine cleaning and televising of a portion of the wastewater lines in the neighborhood, as required by the TCEQ. Residents on streets scheduled to receive cleaning this year will be notified ahead of the work beginning.
Pond Sediment Removal & Drainage of Pond No. 2 & 3: The MUD will complete a sediment removal project this year at the wet pond located at Kingsley Avenue and the dry pond near Cole Valley Lane. This maintenance activity is required by the TCEQ. As part of this year’s project, the Kinglsley pond will be drained. We will share more updates in the next few months.
Street Sweeping: The street sweeping for the neighborhood is scheduled for the April 7th. The service is expected to take approximately 4 hours. If possible, please remove any cars that are parked on the street. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be rescheduled.
Street Inlets & Grass Clippings Reminder: As a reminder to residents, the storm inlets drain to the water quality ponds and capture all items that enter the inlets. Please limit lawn waste and debris from entering the street inlets. For more information, please visit the following link: Grass Clipping Disposal
