The Williams County Sheriff’s Office continues to see an increase in burglaries of vehicles in the surrounding areas of Highlands at Mayfield Ranch.  Most of the incidents take place between the hours of 3:00 – 5:00 a.m.  These burglaries are crimes of opportunity and take only seconds for the thief to complete.

Below are some tips to help prevent car burglaries:

- Lock your car doors.  Most burglaries are done on unlocked cars.

- Do NOT leave valuables in your car, even in your driveway.  If there is nothing in plain sight, the thief will most likely move to the next target.

- Keep your garage doors closed at night.

- Report suspicious activity by calling 911.
